Hillary Clinton on Email Claim: 'I May Have Short-Circuited'

This week, CNN's Jake Tapper discusses Hillary Clinton's false claim that FBI Director James Comey said her public statements about her handling of classified emails were "truthful". "And for that, I will try to clarify, because I think Chris Wallace and I were probably talking past each other", Clinton said.

"She was saying what Director Comey acknowledged to be true, that, when she spoke to the F.B.I., when she was talking to the F.B.I., the F.B.I. thought her answers in that setting were truthful". And she explained that the economic frustration driving many of Donald Trump's supporters should be taken as seriously as his "bigotry" that appeals to some. His campaign Friday released a web video highlighting the controversy over Clinton's private email server, writing on Facebook that there is "no doubt" that Clinton "is a pathological liar". "I was pointing out in both of those instances, that Director Comey had said that my answers in my Federal Bureau of Investigation interview were truthful".

That only prompted more questions, however, so Friday she tried to highlight what she called "the bottom line here".

Many pundits believe she needs to appeal to the Fox News audience to attract anti-Donald Trump conservatives, but the backlash from her Wallace interview might force her campaign to avoid Rupert Murdoch's network. In what will likely not be the last chapter of this tale, she claims she short circuited, whatever that means.

"We're going to be real transparent, absolutely", he said.

Reporters Yamiche Alcindor and Amy Chozick dutifully provided the filling-in story their Public Editor had hinted at: "Did She "Short-Circuit" On the FBI Inquiry?" "Hillary Clinton is once again proving herself incapable of telling the truth". "I understand why Trump's trying to make something out of it, but there's just no there there". Not unlike her husband's famous "is" statement following the mass cover-up of the Monica Lewinsky affair which was nationally televised, Hillary has lied over and over, continuously.

"There's nothing like winning to change minds", she said.

When Fox News host Chris Wallace pointed out that Comey had contradicted her statements, Clinton responded, "That's not what I heard Director Comey say ..." If that's the case, here are several other reasons she may want to check her wiring. But Clinton has taken lying to a whole new level.

"But Secretary Clinton and I get to exactly the same spot" on pushing Congress to authorize military action.

The question-and-answer session Friday at a joint meeting of the National Association of Black Journalists and National Association of Hispanic Journalists marked the first time she's talked about how that political problem could impact her future administration.

Clinton also made a reference to Comey's testimony on the existence of about 100 emails containing classified information at the time they were sent or received - but she continued to suggest that they were not marked classified at the time and were retroactively classified.

Describing the United States as mired in debt, Trump repeated his inaccurate assertion that America is "one of the highest taxed nations in the world".
