After riff, Bill Clinton reaffirms health-care law support

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton boards her campaign plane in White Plains N.Y. Tuesday Oct. 4 2016 to travel to Philadelphia. Clinton is scheduled to attend rallies in Haverford Pa. and Harrisburg Pa

Bill Clinton criticized President Barack Obama's signature policy reform while on the stump for his wife, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, calling Obamacare "the craziest thing in the world".

Bill Clinton criticized the contentious health care law while campaigning for his wife in MI on Monday - a remark he sought to walk back later this week. Hillary Clinton argued her husband was echoing her calls for reform, while Bill tried to clarify his comments."It's been a tough slog for the a year ago for small businesses who are a little bit above the eligibility for any help from the government", Bill Clinton said Wednesday in Canton, Ohio.

But before he could get there, he described "this insane system" where under Obamacare millions more people have health coverage but some have seen "their premiums doubled and their coverage cut in half".

"Bill called it a system, a insane system and said that it's 'the craziest thing in the world, '" Trump said Wednesday at a rally in Reno, Nevada.

Even the folks over at left-leaning MSNBC couldn't believe what they were hearing. He later said the legislation "did a world of good" at an event Tuesday.

President Obama plans to campaign for Clinton next week in Columbus and the Cleveland area.

He draws enthusiastic crowds eager to a see a former president who is anything but a normal political spouse, but he's also generated unwanted stories, including this summer when he approached Attorney General Loretta Lynch for a private meeting at an airport. In the meantime, she wants to double down on 'Obamacare.' I'll bet he went through hell last night. For the point that President Clinton was trying to make, I guess I would refer you to his team.

Later, Clinton said he nearly wanted to apologize for the exchange, but instead hoped it would become a teachable moment.

"The Affordable Care Act continues to be a source of pride for people who work here in the administration in terms of that significant legislative accomplishment".

But for some self-employed entrepreneurs or small-business owners whose income is just above the cut-off for subsidies, the price of insurance obtained through so-called "Obamacare" has increased due to unforeseen effects on insurance markets.

When asked about Clinton's comments at the White House news briefing Tuesday, Earnest said "it's not exactly clear to me what argument he was making, and so I'll let him and his team explain that".

Trump in 2016 threatened to bring up Bill Clinton's infidelities and congratulated himself for refraining in the first of three presidential debates.

Bill Clinton wouldn't mind being 20 years old again, the 70-year-old former USA president told thousands of people gathered on Ohio University's College Green Tuesday morning, but he wouldn't want to take America back 50 years to do it. "Bridges work better than walls".

He thanked Bill Clinton for being "honest".

"President Clinton spoke about the importance of the ACA and the good it has done to expand coverage for millions of Americans. I actually would like to be 20 again... but I would not vote for somebody who promised to make me 20 again", he said.

It's not that Bill Clinton got the policy wrong.
