Coach K bans Duke players from locker room, wearing team apparel

Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski shouts to his team during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game against Georgia Tech in Durham N.C. Wednesday Jan. 4 2017

The source told ESPN, "until they start living up to the standards of the Duke program".

"He needs to do more than just take away their jerseys", added another source close to the program. "There are bigger issues that need to be addressed".

The Duke drama hit its peak on Thursday this week when a meeting at coach Mike Krzyzewski's house was made public.

An ESPN report says the coach, who is recovering from back surgery, temporarily banned players from the locker room and isn't allowing them to wear team apparel. Disappointing when stuff that's supposed to stay in the locker room gets out, ' " WRAL's Joe Ovies posted on Twitter.

Collins, who is 26-for-36 from the field and 19-for-21 on free throws across the past three games, likely will encounter a variety of Duke post players, perhaps led by forward Amile Jefferson. Coincidentally, or not, Duke's next two games are on the road over a short time frame (at Wake Forest on Saturday, at Notre Dame next Monday night).

Ranked as the No. 1 team in the AP preseason poll and picked to win the ACC before the season began, Duke now sits tied for ninth in the ACC standings and a half-game above Wake Forest (12-8, 3-5).

Duke was the No. 1 team in the AP Top 25 entering the season after Krzyzewski brought in the nation's top recruiting class.

The suspension only took Allen out of one game. Capel also benched Giles, Allen and Luke Kennard after struggling in the first half against Miami on Saturday. The associate head coach tried the move again against the Wolfpack; it didn't pan out quite as well.

Blue Devils freshman Jayson Tatum is averaging 17.3 points per game in ACC play for the third-best mark along the league's freshmen. It was the most important performance of the season for Duke.
