NY, US gasoline prices continue to fall

Gas prices rose the most in Utah (up 4.4 cents), Montana (1.7 cents), Idaho (1.3 cents), North Dakota (0.6 cents) and Nevada (0.2 cents).

The state average for a gallon of regular gas in OH was $2.02 in Monday's survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX Inc. That's the third consecutive weekly decline, but compared with the same day past year, prices are 46.1 cents a gallon higher.

Gas prices were continuing their seasonal decline Monday, with one fuel price survey showing the lowest average price among Georgia's eight largest metro areas in Albany.

The company reports the average price of gas was $2.56 per gallon on January 29.

Local gas prices on Sunday were 26 cents per gallon below the US average.

The nation's top five most expensive markets Tuesday were: Hawaii at $3.07 per gallon, California at $2.80 per gallon, Alaska at $2.74 per gallon, Washington at $2.73 per gallon and Pennsylvania at $2.57 per gallon.

To compare, the statewide average is $2.30 a gallon.

Prices fell the most in OH (down 10.4 cents), MI (9.6 cents), IL (8.6 cents), in (8.2 cents) and DE (7.7 cents).

He cautioned the low prices would not stay around for long. During that time prices dropped 10 cents in Florida, 8 cents in Georgia and 5 cents in Tennessee.

The Oil Price Information Service reports Magellan resumed operations on the pipeline between Rosemount, Minnesota, and Mason City, Iowa, on Saturday after "repairs to the damaged section of pipeline were safely completed".

Retail gasoline prices took a small spike in late November after some foreign oil producing countries said they would cut back on pumping to drive up prices. This is the largest decline in demand since 2014. Any local motorists headed to OH or MI will notice lower prices there.

AAA says prices are expected to increase in the spring.
