Ben Affleck Reportedly Wants Out of Solo Batman Film

But this year Batman V Superman debuted to scathing reviews, if healthy box office - Affleck may have felt the former took the shine off of a stunning winning streak.

After he made a decision to not direct the upcoming solo Batman movie for Warner Bros, fresh rumours have emerged stating that Ben Affleck might not play the superhero following Justice League. The statement emphasized that Affleck would continue working with the studio as the star of the film, and that a new director would be announced soon.

While War for the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves is frontrunner for directer, Ridley Scott is apparently "in the wings" too, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Though he admits that the past "scoops" he's been fed have proven hilariously off-base, Collider's John Campea has cited a couple of sources close to the project who all said he might be looking for a way out of the role sooner rather than later.

Explaining what he had heard from those allegedly in the know, he added, "What has come out of the conversation with all three was this". Campea said "multiple sources" told him "in one way or another connected some way to what's going on over at Warner Bros." that "Ben Affleck, make no mistake, he does want out".

After the staggeringly underwhelming effort that was 'Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice,' it seems that Affleck's enthusiasm for The Dark Knight has evaporated nearly entirely. "I have been told that Affleck is talking with Warner Bros.in an attempt to get out of being Batman".

As frustration at fan attention no doubt played a part in Affleck's decision to step down as director for The Batman, if he finds that he's still being bothered by eager DC fans, it might be the straw that breaks this particular bat-camel's back.

The problem with rumors like this, though, are that he's already been Batman in a few flicks, and he's reprising the role for November's Justice League movie. If Affleck can't get out of his contract, the solo Batman film will be his last time playing the Caped Crusader.

Wow! He must really not like the direction the cinematic universe is going if he wants out that badly.
