Donald Trump & Frederick Douglass: All the Memes You Need to See

Trump's speech briefly focused on the life of Frederick Douglass, a statesman and national leader of the abolitionist movement.

Mr Trump said the social reformer, writer and orator who died in 1895, as "somebody who's done an fantastic job that is being recognised more and more".

"We're sending surrogates to places where we think it makes sense to promote our agenda", a White House official told Politico, adding the ban is not permanent.

Douglass died over a century ago but he is just now being noticed "more and more" by Trump - but apparently not, since the president never mentioned exactly what his "amazing job" entailed.

To continue the history lesson, Douglass escaped slavery in 1838 by boarding a train north with false identity papers.

For the next generation, it's taking that action to remind people of one important thing.

Trump is honoring Black History Month about as well as he did the Holocaust.

How are you celebrating Black History Month?

The room full of press and supporters seemed to laugh at every comment made by Trump until he said, "I don't like watching fake news", which didn't draw much of a reaction.

The person President Trump celebrated the most was himself, and the struggles he spent the most time describing were his own.

"Yes, it was fake news", replied Colbert. Trump, who frequently equated "inner cities" with "the African Americans" in speeches during his campaign, is not known for being in touch with the nation's black communities. We have Lincoln, and we have Jefferson, and we have Dr. Martin Luther King, and we have other. Update: It should be noted that the presidential proclamation of February as National African American History month does not mean that Trump is necessarily renaming the month. Fake news. The statue is cherished... but they said the statue, the bust of Dr. Martin Luther King, was taken out of the office. All they did was give it a title: My Very Good Black History Month Tribute To Some Of The Most Tremendous Black People. Now, Donald Trump is essentially doing the very same thing, but using a different name and terminology, but it is still bound to cause a bit of friction. It's an African American listening session so you'll listen or, uh, I'll listen to you.
