Facebook has come up with another way to convince users to stay within the social networking app, recently introducing a complete weather forecast section that uses Global Positioning System location to present a detailed 24-hour and 5-day forecast, powered by Weather.com (via TechCrunch). You'll find it by clicking on the "More" section in the same part of the app where you find "Friends", "Groups", "Events", and "Pages". The Weather section allows users to view a full forecast for the upcoming week, while data is provided by Weather.com.

Although the Weather section will default to your current location, you can tap the Settings button at the top of the page and add a new location or change the units from Fahrenheit to Celsius.

A spokesperson from Facebook told TechCrunch that the weather section is now visible to 95 percent of mobile app users all around the world. Facebook also offers an option to adjust notifications for weather reports and all the updates for the new section will be made available by the end of the month.

In order to keep users engaged within the social networking app, Facebook has come up with yet another new feature.

It is said that the idea behind implementing this feature is to ensure that the users stay hooked onto the Facebook app.

If you do see it, you'll get a rudimentary app that gives you an hour-by-hour weather forecast for today and a simple forecast for the next five days. More interestingly, perhaps, is the ability to set notifications for these weather alerts so you don't forget to bring your umbrella on the way out. Though given the sometimes capricious nature of the Facebook feed, you might not always find the information when you need it.

Fortunately, it's somewhat easy to go directly to that weather information, that is if you have Facebook on your smartphone. The new feature is an extension on that.

We are doing this because our goal is to develop products that connect people to the things they care about most and create moments of joy in people's day, like simply telling you that it's going to rain later. It's nothing groundbreaking and that may be why Facebook didn't even bother releasing a formal press release about the new addition. However, unlike standard weather apps, you will not be able to scroll through different cities from one screen.
