Harrison Ford Involved in 'Potentially Serious' Passenger Plane Incident

Harrison Ford

Though the FAA did not confirm it was Ford in the incident, a spokesperson said in a statement to "Extra" on Tuesday afternoon, "Air traffic controllers cleared the pilot of a single-engine Aviat Husky to land on Runway 20L at John Wayne Airport Monday afternoon".

The Hollywood star, who holds a private pilot license, only just overshot the American Airlines plane after accidentally coming down on a taxiing lane instead of a runway in California, according to NBC News. Ford's mix-up caused him to fly right overtop an American Airlines passenger plane that NBC News reported was "loaded with 110 passengers and a six-person crew".

He was reportedly then caught on air traffic recordings asking: "Was that airliner meant to be underneath me?"

NBC also reported that Ford "scraped the runway" when he made an emergency landing in Nebraska in 2000 and crash-landed a helicopter when he was taking a flight lesson in 1999.

This isn't Ford's first brush with a potentially risky airplane incident.

The Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating the incident, according to NBC News.

He was piloting a small World War II era-plane when he crashed at a city golf course in Venice. However, Ford actually landed on a taxiway, flying over a passenger plane for an unknown amount of time. Ford's representatives had no immediate comment. However, for now, it has been confirmed that Ford is safe, and unharmed, which is definitely good news. DEVELOPING: We will provide updates as they become available.
