Here are games getting significant boost with PS4 Pro's new firmware

Like a turbo button from a '90s PC, the feature is said to improve performance on games that saw unstable frame-rates. On PS4 Pro with Boost Mode, the frame rate is much more solid than on the regular console.

Users are also notified that when "Boost Mode" is enabled, they might encounter "unexpected behaviors" during gameplays.

ArsTechnica reports the performance setting appears to work by "taking out the stops that Sony itself put on the PS4 Pro to ensure compatibility with games coded for legacy PS4 hardware". Just Cause 3 definitely feels much better, as the game suffers from several issues while running on the original PlayStation 4 console.

Sony used the weekend to confirm that the PS4 Pro will benefit from "Boost Mode" within its 4.50 system update. One of the new features included in firmware version 4.50 is Boost Mode for the PlayStation 4 Pro. In Boost Mode, players will be able to run older games "at a higher GPU and CPU clock speed".

The PlayStation 4 Pro also had a promise of 4K, despite not through a native resolution render and simply done with checkerboard upscaling technique (via Gamingbolt.) However, there's no clear cut regarding which games are going to be supported in the future.

The extremely sort after External HDD Support which is compatible with a HDDs up to 8TB.

The 4.50 software update will also bring the ability to set screenshots as background images for the Home Screen, updates to the Quick Menu (accessed after a long press of the PS button on the controller), simplified notifications for easier reading, and the ability to post on PlayStation Network activity feeds.

Here's how the two consoles compare and what reviewers think.

Ars Technica says those with an HD TV will get "some benefits" from the PS4 Pro's power, such as bumping games with lower resolutions up to full 1080p and smoothing out harsh renderings on straight lines.
