Hundreds Arrested in US Immigration Enforcement Raids

Hundreds of undocumented immigrants arrested

At a news conference outside the Government Center Friday morning, hector Vaca of Action NC said, "ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is running a campaign of terror against families here in Charlotte and all over the country".

The raid reported in Florida was allegedly in Plant City.

In a statement, ICE said "officers frequently encounter additional suspects who may be in the United States in violation of the federal immigration laws".

Navarrete says she sought to stop the man's deportation and was told by ICE that things had changed.

"ICE Fugitive Operations teams are out every day as part of routine, targeted enforcement operations", said acting press secretary Gillian Christensen.

Michael Kagan, a professor of immigration law at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, said immigration advocates are concerned that the arrests could signal the beginning of more aggressive enforcement and increased deportations under Trump. "I've not been made aware that anything is different".

According to ICE, however, the operations were "routine".

"ICE is denying information and misleading attorneys and [Thursday's] operation was a coordinated effort", added Director Salas, Reuters reported. "By removing from the streets criminal aliens and other threats to the public, ICE helps improve public safety".

Some activists in Austin and Los Angeles suggested that the raids might be retaliation for those cities' so-called "sanctuary city" policies.

"There are reports that ICE today executed raids across Southern California", de Leon said via a written statement obtained by Breitbart California. "As you heard from multiple speakers with years of experience these sorts of public arrests are clear demonstrations of trying to intimidate the community". The arrest was captured on video by a Central Texas man near the intersection of Lamar Avenue and Rundberg Lane.

Hundreds of people have been apprehended in at least a half dozen states by federal agents as part of a Trump administration crackdown on people in the country without proper paperwork. A minivan and a full-size van both appeared on the scene before the video ended. California Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León said in a statement that the ICE had scolded media outlets for saying 100 people had been arrested only a day before admitting to arresting even more. "I will continue to monitor this situation". "The goal of such policies is to inject fear into immigrant communities, frighten families and children, and drive immigrants farther underground. These are the people that the agency wants to deport".

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus is requesting a meeting with U.S. Immigration and Customs and Enforcement (ICE) officials over recent raids on undocumented immigrants. The man has been living in the United States for 27 years, has no criminal record and has a wife and four USA -born children.

ICE actions like these are beyond reprehensible.

'We are looking into them. "If this is legal, if this is lawful, let us know that". "It is an irresponsible action", said Delia Garza, Austin City Council District 2. He said most of the 200 people were convicted criminals. Many local police departments, including the Los Angeles Police Department, have promised not to assist ICE with immigration detentions and deportations.
