Four-time Pro Bowl selection and 2014 All-Pro Mario Williams and two-time Pro-Bowl selection Brandon Albert were cut Thursday by the Miami Dolphins, according to multiple reports.

Albert was a huge signing when the Dolphins landed him in 2014, but he never really panned out, mostly because of injuries.

Albert wasn't offered a pay cut or restructured contract before his release, a source told ESPN.

Albert was due to make $8.88 million this year.

Thursday's roster moves means the Dolphins will have the 10 most cap space heading into free agency, which official begins on March 7. The release of Albert leaves $3.4 million in dead money on their cap.

The release of Ekpre-Olomu is not salary-cap related.

The move clears the way for 2016 first round pick Laremy Tunsil to take over as Miami's left tackle of the present, and the future.

Albert, 32, anchored the Dolphins' line for three seasons when healthy but missed four games a year ago because of a wrist injury and illness. He spent last season on injured reserve after injuring his knee. He hasn't played all 16 games since 2011 with Kansas City.

Williams' release is not a surprise. He had a career-low 1.5 sacks and also suffered concussion and ankle injuries.

Williams, 32, had just 1.5 sacks last season. He was a first round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Earl Mitchell started 24 games at defensive tackle for Miami's disappointing defensive line, which was a major factor in Miami's opponents averaging 140 rushing yards per game against the Dolphins (ranked 30th).

He has 206 tackles and 5.5 sacks in his career. He entered the National Football League in 2008 as a first-round selection by the Chiefs out of Virginia.
