Six New England Patriots Are Skipping The White House Visit

Fifth New England Patriot announces he will skip WH visit

Three New England Patriots players have announced they will not visit President Donald Trump at the White House after the American football team's historic Super Bowl victory on Sunday (5 February).

"I don't support the guy that's in the house", said tight end Marcellus Bennett, the first to back out of the White House trip.

So far, six Patriots players have made it clear they are skipping the team's visit to the White House after winning Super Bowl LI.

Defensive end Chris Long became the fourth Patriot to announce he meant to skip his White House visit Thursday morning.

"I'm not going to the White House", Devin McCourty told Time magazine.

'The president having so many strong opinions and prejudices, I believe certain people might feel accepted there while others won't'.

Now his teammate Devin McCourty has also come forward to say that he will not attend any kind of ceremony with Trump.

A group of New England Patriots players will not be visiting the White House any time soon.

And in an interview Wednesday with the Boston Herald, the Boston mayor said he wouldn't go, if he played for the team, either. Who does and doesn't visit the White House among all championship teams over the next four years will be a recurring story. "Everybody knows that. That's why I have this choice".

Running back LeGarrette Blount told "The Rich Eisen Show" that he won't be going to the meet-and-greet with President Trump.

The news that the six players will turn down the invitation has dominated and divided the news pages in the U.S. since the Patriots' Super Bowl victory over the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday.

This growing wave of dissent among black Patriots players has yet to cach on with their white teammates.

"I never expected the President of the United States to respond to Nordstroms", said Zirin "So I'm at a loss about how he will react to this".

An agent for Hightower confirmed to ABC News that he would not visit the White House but did not provide additional comment. Head coach Bill Belichick, a friend of Trump's for "many years", wrote the then-Republican candidate for president a glowing letter.
