Derrick Rose to have knee surgery again, miss rest of season

Report: Derrick Rose has torn meniscus, out for season

However, on Sunday, it was announced that Rose would miss the remainder of the regular season as he undergoes yet another surgery on his knee - the third of his career.

Those close to Rose expect him to be at full health two months after the surgery, which will be scheduled shortly.

The original diagnosis was a sore knee, and Rose had missed three consecutive games - including Sunday against the Celtics.

Rose's most serious injury came in April 2012 when he tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee near the end of Chicago's playoff opener. Rose finishes the season averaging 18.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 64 games. He said on Wednesday that he initially felt the discomfort in his knee before the Knicks' win over the Pistons on Monday, in which he played 33 minutes and scored 27 points.

Point guard Derrick Rose will complete a disappointing first season with the Knicks on the sidelines.

Derrick Rose's season and maybe even his New York Knicks career seem to be over, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical. The Knicks sent the Bulls center Robin Lopez and guard Jerian Grant in the deal.

In 2015, he re-aggravated the same meniscus injury and this year's injury happened to Rose at the worst possible time, as he will be a free agent this offseason.
