Jared Kushner omits some foreign contacts on security form

House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wis. speaks during a news conference on Capitol Hill in Washington. After their humiliating loss on health care Republicans in Congress could use a quick victory on a big issue. It won

A rift has reportedly emerged between Donald Trump's chief strategist, Steve Bannon and his son-in-law Jared Kushner. Politico reported yesterday that Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and America's new czar on Iraq, Middle East peace, government organization, and half a dozen other things, has been complaining about Bannon privately.

The sources said Bannon and Kushner have been engaged in a consistent battle in which they get into "face to face" confrontations, the Daily Beast reported. On a board in his West Wing office, Bannon keeps a list of promises Trump made to populist voters.

A reliable source has claimed that First Daughter Ivanka Trump and her spouse worked behind the scenes to get Bannon booted from the National Security Council this week. Who ultimately prevails in the ideological standoff between blocs led by Kushner and Bannon, his chief strategist, could determine the trajectory of Trump's term in the months or years ahead.

The Wounded Warriors Project event seems to be Tiffany's first public appearance at the White House, and her first in Washington since her father's inauguration in January. NY magazine's Gabriel Sherman, citing "a longtime Trump adviser", reported that the president had called Spicer's media-bashing debut in the briefing room "terrible". In the sketch, "Trump" calls "Bannon" Mr. President and when finishing up his calls, sits at a smaller desk and plays with children's toys. If Kushner was wary of Bannon, why didn't he object to him joining the campaign? But questions about Bannon - once widely viewed as untouchable - exploded this week after he was removed from the NSC. Kushner now has an "interim" security clearance.

Despite the White House denials, many close to the administration say the reports of division and cutthroat maneuvering are true.

While Bannon favors Trump's controversial travel ban and the rolling back of environmental regulations and protections for transgender students, Kushner is attempting to exert a moderating force on the president. But we're talking about Donald Trump here.

Priebus himself is feeling the heat in the wake the GOP's failure to repeal and replace ObamaCare. "You're a Democrat", Bannon said to Kushner this week.

A senior official told The Daily Beast that the friction between the Bannon and Kushner camps boiled down to a broad range of policy concerning "trade, health care, immigration, taxes, [terrorism] - you name it". And, as they say, in Washington D.C. positioning is everything.
