Jose Mourinho says some Man United players are suffering from low confidence

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The 21-year-old was introduced from the bench in the second half with Manchester United trailing and his stoppage-time shot led to the penalty that Zlatan Ibrahimovic slotted home to earn a share of the points.

Old Trafford witnessed a ninth league draw of the term on Tuesday evening, but it was almost so much worse after United struggled to cancel out Everton captain Phil Jagielka's opener.

United had to settle for a 1-1 draw after Zlatan Ibrahimovic saw a 71st-minute equaliser ruled out for offside, but replays suggested he was onside before he headed the ball past Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles. "I just say when the VAR comes, it will help everyone, especially the linesmen and referees".

The worry for United is that the Swede himself may be beginning to wonder about all the under-achievement going on around him as he ponders whether he wants to extend his contract at Old Trafford next season.

The self-proclaimed mane man put a last-minute header over the bar with a chance to rescue a point and would have been as relieved as anyone else when United gained a shot at redemption from the unlikeliest source.

Characteristically, Mourinho believed the goal should have stood, saying: "We scored two legal goals but I tell you with a smile on my face because I am not upset with the linesman".

"It was deja vu in many things, but I have to admit we played better football than in some other matches".

United struggled to make headway, though, with only the odd glimpse of goal.

And Mourinho's demanding approach continued with the former Chelsea boss claiming Shaw only performed well against Everton because he was able to coach him from the touchline.

"Did one decision go against us?" They have a different system. They have taken only two points from two successive home games and they needed a 94th-minute penalty to avoid defeat against a desperately unlucky Everton.

"But his contribution was good, he improved the team".

Footage was published by a British newspaper website this week, showing Moyes telling a female reporter that she might "get a "slap, even though you're a woman" following an interview with the BBC after a game".

"So many times I was criticised for that".
