Matip admits Klopp's system 'sometimes go to pieces'

Jürgen Klopp believes Liverpool would have competed alongside Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur for the Premier League title but for "unlucky" injuries that stretched his resources this season.

Klopp admitted that he has been left wondering what might have been had he had a full squad to choose from throughout the campaign, with his side now sat nine points behind league leaders Chelsea.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes Crystal Palace have one of the best offensive lines in the Premier League. Little bit muscle problems, Joel Matip, Lucas Leiva [and] still a problem with Ragnar Klavan.

'I think we did well with it in the week and having him back together with Phil, of course, is very important for us'.

'The situation with our goalkeepers is really good. Hopefully the rehab team have taken a trick out of Philippe Coutinho's book and worked some magic on getting two players fit that will be crucial to taking all three points on Sunday.

Klopp's high-energy blueprint is something that is slowly becoming commonplace among club football's elite teams as the splash made by Pep Guardiola's epochal Barcelona side - with their incessant pressing and Rubik's cube-like patterns of attack - continues to ripple outwards. "It means that, even without Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson, Liverpool look risky. We felt it a lot of times here", he said.

"He had these moments when he kept the ball for us really physically - against the defensive line of West Brom, that's really hard and that helped us so much", Klopp said. "I could be in an uncomfortable situation if we do not win anything", Klopp told Sport1. If it happens in the game, it is different. Lucas got a knock [against West Bromwich Albion], not serious, played until the end, a few problems, similar with Joël [Matip].

"It's not about day to day, it's just. the best word is unlucky".

Instead, the Reds boss remains hopeful that the two parties can strike an agreement for Can to commit his long-term future to Liverpool before having to think about letting the player go.

"He has scored 14 goals this season so he is another player with confidence and on a good run".
