The police said Dahiya along with some friends from the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) had organised the poolside party at the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) on Monday night. Dr Bansal also informed reporters that the people present at the party had consumed alcohol.

Police said that statements of eye witnesses reveal that while swimming, a lady officer probably had an accidental slip into the pool and many young officers, including the deceased, attempted rescuing her.
