Accident reported involving military plane at Ohio air show

A plane ended up on its top after it ran off the runway in Dayton, Ohio this afternoon.

A Thunderbird F-16 was involved in an incident Friday while practicing for an OH air show, according to multiple reports. The nearby Wright-Patterson Air Force Base dispatched a rescue crew to the scene.

A Thunderbird F-16D Fighting Falcon jet flipped over on the runway while taxiing, and two people were reported trapped in the plane.

The United States Air Force Thunderbirds were conducting a single-ship familiarization flight on Friday June 23, 2017. Emergency services are on the scene.

Visibility was said to be low and windy conditions were in the area at the time of the crash, according to the Dayton Business Journal, but no cause for the crash is yet known.

A military jet in the Air Force Thunderbird demonstration squadron apparently practicing for an upcoming OH air show has been involved in an accident, authorities said. Reed says there was no immediate report of any injuries.

The Vectren Dayton Air Show is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

We will have more updates on WFLA.com when more facts are released.

The pilot, his passenger and a tactical aircraft maintainer were all taken to a hospital for treatment.
