Apple to showcase new features for its gadgets

When will the WWDC 2017 presentation begin? Check out our rolling coverage below!

Apple says Amazon will be making an app for its video service for the Apple TV device this year, filling one of the major gaps on Apple's streaming TV device. After all, why do websites still do this? Apple also announced a new macOS dubbed "High Sierra" that should please Mac users on both the professional and consumer side. It is coming out this fall and will be a free update.

Apple's HomePod will hopefully be available in New Zealand next year.

The company adds that Metal 2 is also optimised for machine learning and external graphics cards.

Not necessarily. Apple has a well-known track record of surprising, so we can't say that WWDC keynote address will be wrapped up with announcements related to above things only.

The Cupertino company confirmed that its iMacs will be getting a boost to seventh generation Intel Core series chips, as well as 32GB or 64GB of RAM (depending on the model).

"That iMac Pro really is bad ass", said Cook.

Siri, meanwhile, is getting a new voice.

How about the Macbooks? Expect this to hit the U.S. in December.

You can talk to it with the command "Hey Siri" and ask it to play specific songs, radio stations or genres. If you are a developer or have your device UDID registered by a developer, then downloading and installing the iOS 11 beta 1 to test is now an option.

Probably the biggest news is the leaked Files app, delivering a file manager to iOS in a long long overdue move. Reports recently have suggested that Amazon may launch its Prime Video app for the Apple TV at WWDC.

With Apple Pay, users will now be able to make person-to-person payments much like Venmo or Square Cash.

Do you find it all too tempting to check your text messages, Facebook updates, or Snapchats while behind the wheel? And finally, videos in "Memories" now also play in Portrait mode. Instead of dipping back into the camera roll after you take a screenshot, you'll be able to quickly re-crop and markup the image right away.

Do not disturb while driving: Detects when you're driving and blocks notifications. You can create an automated response to tell your friends that you're driving and won't be responding to texts.

There are also more integrations into WeChat, which is popular in one of Apple's top markets -China. Other new features include suggestions for follow-up questions you can tap on, multiple results for a search topic, the ability to translate languages (English to Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish), and more.

One of the new features in iOS 11 includes synchronized messages on iOS and macOS.

Apple is also refreshing its notebooks, with the Macbook and MacBook Pro moving to faster processors and faster solid-state hard drives. It will have a US$5 price tag.

Apple is expected to announce plans this week to make its Siri voice assistant work with a larger variety of apps, but initial changes were expected to add just a small number of capabilities. It's worth noting that iPhone and iPad users need to be running at least iOS 7, and Mac users need to be running Mac OS X 10.8.5 or later.

The company adds that the tablets are available in the US from next week.
