Deadlocked jury in Cosby trial wraps up for the night

In court, the judge then read a new charge to the jury and told them to go back and continue their deliberations.

"If you've reached a unanimous decision on some of the charges, please report that back to me", Judge Steven O'Neill said Thursday before the jury began their deliberations afresh, CNN reported.

The 79-year-old star is charged with three counts of felony aggravated indecent assault, which could mean ten years in prison.

Before the jury deadlocked Thursday on the ninth day of Bill Cosby's sexual assault trial, the popular entertainer and comedian left the courthouse chanting his "Fat Albert" refrain.

Andrea Constand, who has accused Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting her in 2004 at his Pennsylvania townhouse, tweeted a slow-motion video of herself shooting a flawless basket in what appeared to be the hallway of the courthouse where the jurors are deliberating.

Bill Cosby, the comedian who was once known as America's family man and role model, is now awaiting the decision of the jury regarding his highly publicized rape case.

The jury in Bill Cosby's sex assault trial is going back to its hotel for the night after failing to resolve a deadlock that's threatened to end the case without a verdict.

Jurors who had appeared stressed and even angry leaving court on previous nights seemed more upbeat as they departed Thursday night, despite enduring another marathon session.

The jury, bused in from the Pittsburgh area, has paused a half-dozen times to revisit key evidence, including Cosby's decade-old admissions that he fondled Constand after giving her pills.

Constand, a former director of operations for Temple University's women's basketball team, has leveled the aforementioned charges against Cosby.

About 50 women have made allegations against Cosby.

Constand denies there was any romance between them and told jurors she had rebuffed his advances before the assault.

She said, "I'm grateful that they are not rushing to a verdict".

The judge in the sexual assault case of comedian Bill Cosby has declared a mistrial. According to an affidavit, Constand has accused Cosby of drugging her with three blue pills and then making physical contact without her consent including forcing his hands into her pants and coercing her into touching his erect penis in 2004. If found guilty, he could face up to 10 years in prison for each charge.

The jury has asked questions specifically relating to Constand's original police report which contradicted her testimony Tuesday.

Accuser Andrea Constand says Cosby drugged and molested her.

Constand's lawyer, Dolores Troiani, told reporters that Jackson is "not telling the truth" and faulted Wyatt for circulating Jackson's statement while jurors were deliberating.

After several days of deliberations, the jury could not come to a unanimous agreement.

But when speaking about her career plans one night at his home, the sweater-wearing actor known as "America's Dad" gave her three blue pills that he said were herbal and would help her relax, she testified.

Later in the day, he called on the judge to declare a mistrial.

Authorities declined to charge Cosby when she first came forward in 2005, but a new district attorney reopened the case in 2015 after Cosby's deposition was unsealed at the request of The Associated Press.

He did not take the stand in his sexual assault trial.
