Gunshots and explosions at Philippine mall

Manila police said a gunman who opened fire in a luxury resort is not believed to be part of a terror attack.

ISIS quickly claimed responsibility for the attack, the AP reported.

Several people have been injured after gunfire at a luxury resort in the Philippines.

"We ask for your prayers during these hard times", the hotel tweeted.

Additional details were not immediately available.

A resort in the Philippines is apparently under attack.

Gunshots and a fire broke out in a high-end hotel and casino across from one of the airport terminals in the Philippine capital, wounding an undetermined number of people.

Philippine police cordoned off the area near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

It is a large complex with a casino, a popular shopping mall and a hotel. Witnesses also said initially that they saw two armed suspects dressed in black.

Gunfire and explosions were reported at the hotel sometime after midnight.

President Rodrigo Duterte declared martial law over the island of Mindanao last week after the crisis began. Smoke was seen from the building as well.

The U.S. State Department urged people to avoid the area.

A video has captured the terrifying moment tourists began running for their lives after a gunman stormed a holiday hotspot in the Philippines.

The Philippines has been hit with incidents of terrorism, especially on the southern island of Mindanao.
