Sushma meets US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson

All Indians Are Safe In Mexico External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj

India on Friday while exercising its "Right of Reply" at the United Nations General Assembly slammed Pakistan for its policy of sponsoring terrorism.

India strongly responded to Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi's statement on Kashmir and it would not be surprising that Swaraj asserts the government's position on this one more time.

Swaraj is now in NY to attend the 72nd annual session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Sushma reminded Abbasi that when he reached Islamabad for the Heart of Asia Conference on December 9, 2015, then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had decided that India and Pakistan should restore the dialogue and give it the overall bilateral talks. We have marched ahead, consistently, without pause, in Education, Health and across the range of human welfare.

Swaraj said Pakistanis should look at the progress India had made since the two countries emerged on independence from Britain in 1947.

Talking about her government's initiative to make youth economically independent, Swaraj highlighted Modi's ambitious plans of Skill India, Startup India and Stand Up India to train middle-class youth into becoming independent, self-employed entrepreneurs.

With an attempt to unmask Pakistan at the worldwide stage, Swaraj vehemently attacked the neighbouring country, saying: "While we (India) made Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indian Institute of Management (IIM), All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Pakistan created Jaish-e- Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen". "We created IITs, IIMs, AIIMS while Pakistan created LeT, Haqqanis, JeM, Hizbul Mujahideen", she said, referring to Pakistan-based terror groups. What have you (Pakistan) produced? We have made doctors, scientists. Pakistan must answer why it spurned this offer, she added, according to The Hindu. She used the United Nations platform to laud PM Modi's signature initiatives - from Jan Dhan to demonetisation, which she called a courageous and bold initiative to argue that successive governments had worked for further development in contrast to Pakistan.

The External Affairs Minister said, regional cooperation can only be successful if it meets the expectations of the people. The statement said that China and Russian Federation "reiterate the importance they attach to the status and role of Brazil, India and South Africa in global affairs and support their aspiration to play a greater role in the UN".

She said the old United Nations resolutions from more than half-a-century ago have been overtaken by events and bilateralism was the only way forward. Swaraj spoke vividly on a number of issues including terrorism, climate change, and India's efforts to curb poverty.
