President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, private aircraft "tour" with 11.20 of Republic of Iran at TSI came to Tehran.

"We do not recognize the illegitimate referendum of the northern Iraqi regional government", said the Turkish top executive, on Wednesday. "Meetings will be held to discuss the details", he said.

Both Iran and Turkey have taken counter measures to the Kurds' move and will adopt further measures, he warned.

Turkey already has several thousand ground forces stationed in northern Syria and Erdogan has stated he will not accept a Kurdish state along his borders.

Pointing to the extensive talks he had held with the Turkish president about the Iraqi Kurdistan Region before the press conference, Rouhani said Tehran and Ankara are opposed to secessionist moves and to the escalation of sectarian and religious conflicts masterminded by outsiders.

Erdogan, whose security forces have been embroiled in a decades-long battle with Kurdish separatists in southeast Turkey, repeated his accusation that Israel was behind the Iraqi Kurds' referendum.

Iran and Turkey have resolved to work together to ease tension in the crisis-hit Middle East region. According to the plan, the trio is expected to send 500 observers each to Idlib to monitor the de-escalation deal, and the Russian ones will be military police, the Russian negotiator said after the meeting.

Iraq was the biggest crude oil exporter to Turkey in last three years, however in the January to July 2017 period, Iraq's crude oil exports to Turkey decreased 20.5 percent from 5.4 million tons to 4.3 million tons.

The two countries launched joint-military exercises with Iraqi troops near their respective borders with the KRG-controlled territory.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday denied Turkish claims of covert involvement in Iraqi Kurdistan's recent independence vote.

Iraqi Prime Minster Haider al-Abadi ordered all airspace above Iraqi Kurdistan closed to commercial air traffic, until Masoud Barzani, president of the Kurdistan Regional Government or KRG, hands over control of the regions airports to Baghdad.

Erdogan is also scheduled to meet Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during his visit to the country.

He asserted that the referendum was a Zionist plot that benefits the United States.
