Coach Klopp pledges support to Brewster

Liverpool ace Rhian Brewster claimed he has been racially abused or witnessed abuse

Liverpool's Rhian Brewster won an Under-17 World Cup this year.

Jurgen Klopp has praised Rhian Brewster for speaking out about racial abuse in football and insisted that the 17-year-old will be helped and supported at Liverpool.

In the interview, he vividly describes being called a racial slur in a Uefa Youth League against Spartak Moscow this month, and an European Under-17 Championship against Ukraine in May.

"I got fouled", the 17-year-old said, recalling the recent Spartak incident.

"We have raised with both UEFA and Federation Internationale de Football Association a need for discrimination to be covered as part of the pre-tournament player workshops, and also expressed our concern at difficulties encountered in trying to report incidents".

"Everyone stands behind the anti-racism banners". "I want to be by myself and left to think".

"'Morgan, ' I said, 'did you hear that?' He said: 'Yeah, yeah, I thought I was the only one"'. It should have been more severe - a whole stadium ban. "That is how it feels anyway".

"In Rhian's case, we have visited him at his club to discuss his concerns and understand his frustration at the perceived lack of action", read the statement. The next day I'll still be thinking about it.Under UEFA's rules any player found guilty of making racial slurs can be suspended for a minimum of 10 matches.

"I'm really long in this business, in this sport, and I've never faced a situation like that".

"Steven grabbed me and said: 'What's happened?' Obviously he realised something was wrong and he put his arm round me".

"I am really happy he is fearless enough to do what he did because it is such an important thing", Klopp said. It is such an important thing.

"I can't believe that people have these kind of thoughts still in their mind, it's so unusual in this world that is happens".

"It's so unusual that it happens in this world now, and we need a 17-year-old boy to shout out and say it is still happening all the time and that we need help to stop it".
