Turkey denies chemical weapons use, calling accusations 'black propaganda'

US intelligence chief calls YPG 'PKK's Syrian militia'

Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared that the US' plans in Syria are aimed against "Turkey, Iran and maybe Russia", claiming that the vast amounts of military hardware and munitions being shipped by the United States into the region are not meant to be used against Daesh alone.

Mr. Tillerson - during a visit to Ankara late last week - also attempted to put a positive spin on the situation, asserting that "the relationship is too important, it's too valuable to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and our North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies... for us not to do anything other than concentrate on how are we going forward".

"We can cooperate with any side that lends us a helping hand in light of the barbaric crimes and the global silence", Jia Kurd said.

Turkey began its military campaign against the Kurdish militias in Afrin on January 20 this year. Tillerson said the United States would look at any evidence Turkey presents, which in the past has been judged by courts to be insufficient for the extradition Turkey wants.

Ankara launched an air and ground offensive on Afrin last month targeting the Kurdish YPG militia, which it views as a terrorist group with links to an armed insurrection in Turkey.

Syrian Kurdish forces and the Damascus government have reached an agreement for the Syrian army to enter the Afrin region to help repel a Turkish offensive, a senior Kurdish official told Reuters on Sunday.

"We are not going to act alone any longer, the USA doing one thing and Turkey doing another".

"As to Afrin, we call upon Turkey to show restraint in its operation and to minimize casualties to civilians and to actions that would escalate tensions in that area", Tillerson said.

Turkey is riled over Washington's support of the People's Protection Units - the top USA ally in the fight against the Islamic State group.

The latest development coincided Friday with a Syrian regime decision to allow Kurds demonstrate in Damascus against the Turkish military operation in northern Syria, carrying portraits of Abdullah Ocalan, imprisoned leader of the PKK.

This is while United States officials regard the YPG as the most effective fighting force against the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group in northern Syria, and have substantially increased their weaponry and technology support to the group.

"We've agreed that we will continue to examine all the evidence that can be provided to us", Tillerson said of Gulen's case.

Following Macron's warning, the Syrian government denied it possessed chemical weapons, saying they were "immoral and unacceptable", SANA reported.

Hedu further noted that Turkish troops actually did not advance in Afrin, but engaged in hit-and-run tactics instead.
