Israeli Occupation Forces Shoot Dead Palestinian in West Bank

Israeli soldiers shot and killed, on Friday evening, a young Palestinian man who was deaf and could not speak, in the southern West Bank city of Hebron.

Mohammad Al-Jaabari, 24, was shot in the chest by Israeli forces in the city of Al-Khalil, Hebron, and then died from his wounds, the ministry added in a statement.

The border is a frequent site of clashes between Palestinians and Israeli security forces.

The occupied Palestinian territories have witnessed a new wave of tension ever since US President Donald Trump announced his decision on December 6 a year ago to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as the Zionist entity's capital and relocate the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to the occupied city.

Palestinian group Hamas said it won't be able to stop planned protests in May when the United States moves its embassy to Jerusalem.

The act unveiled Thursday was passed late Wednesday, just hours after the passage of yet another contentious legislation, authorizing the regime's interior ministry to strip Palestinians in East Jerusalem al-Quds of their permanent residency permits "if they are involved in terrorism".

The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) blasted the decision, with senior official Saeb Erekat saying, "The American administration's decisions to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and choose the Palestinian people's Nakba as the date for this step is a blatant violation of global law".

Four Palestinians were wounded in clashes with Israeli forces across the West Bank, the ministry said.

The bill was sponsored by two Knesset members from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's right-wing Likud and the religious-nationalist Jewish Home parties. A number of Muslim leaders have warned the move may lead to violence.
