Omarosa's new White House recording sounds alarm bells across Twitter

Police in Fredericton were advising residents to stay inside and lock their doors while they investigated a shooting in the Brookside Drive area that killed at least four people

In an attempt to set the record straight on reports surrounding her dramatic firing, former White House staffer and reality TV personality Omarosa Manigault Newman said that she recorded a discussion between herself and White House chief of staff John Kelly.

Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel suggested that Manigault Newman should be prosecuted if she's found to have broken any federal laws for recording a conversation in the Situation Room.

Newman claims that in one tape, Trump uses a racial slur in off-camera remarks during his time on The Apprentice.

In response to her media tour, the White House has painted Manigault Newman as a vengeful, untrustworthy opportunist.

"Yes, I was complicit in deceiving this nation", Omarosa said, noting that she had no idea that Trump could've been racist when she met him in 2003 - despite noting his obsession with the Central Park 5. "I was complicit, and for that, I regret".

The book comes out Tuesday.

NBC showed the agreement on air, which included a strict non-disparagement agreement that would have prevented Manigault Newman from demeaning or disparaging Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, the campaign, their families and businesses. "It's a threat. He went on to say that, 'Things could get ugly you.' ..."

Cohen's position - on the outside of the White House looking in, facing a lengthy prison term and the loss of his law license for making tapes of his clients - makes his dismissal of Manigault Newman's latest claim all the more remarkable. Period. Trump can not say those words because to do so would reaffirm his failure a year ago and, worse, annoy the segment of his white base that thinks they are the victims of racism. White House press secretary Sarah Sanders has described it as "riddled with lies and false accusations" and accused the author of being "a disgruntled former White House employee trying to profit off these false attacks".

"If I did not have this recording, people would still believe the false, incredible story that I was running around the White House", she explained. She says she had seen him acting inappropriately at numerous events he attended without his wife at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, including birthday parties, fundraisers and golf tournaments.

Ms Manigault Newman defended her decision to covertly record it and other White House conversations, describing it as a form of protection.

And Trump felt compelled to throw in "all types of racism" to make sure the "fine people" among the neo-Nazis don't feel left out.

But Manigault Newman has already contradicted that claim - though she said in the book that she was informed by a source that Trump used a racial slur, she told NPR in an interview Friday that she had heard a recording of the comments herself.
