IPL Auction 2019: Five overseas players who could become millionaires

IPL auction live details on players

Chakravarthy, with a base price of Rs 20 lakh, went to Kings XI Punjab after a bidding war that also involved Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. At Rs one crore, a player like Yuvraj is probably a (biggest) steal of 12 (sic) years.

Jaydev Unadkat became an IPL millionaire for the second time in the same year in the IPL 2019 auction, held in Jaipur today.

Yuvraj going unsold was not particularly surprising as he endured a lean run in the 2018 edition after KXIP bought him at a base price of Rs two crore before releasing him in November.

Ishant Sharma returned home to Delhi, the newly renamed Capitals franchise picking him up for INR 1.1 crore (approx Dollars 153,000). Indian Premier League 2019 will see new auctioneer Hugh Edmeades in place of Richard Madley as the list is out with a total pool of 346 cricketers set to undergo the hammer.

Carlos Brathwaite was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 5 crore while Shimron Hetmyer sold for Rs 4.2 crore to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Uncapped Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube attracted a lot of attention when he was picked for Rs 5 crore by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

His teammate Brathwaite, the star of 2016 World T20, was sold to KKR for Rs five crore after a bidding war between the Dinesh Karthik-led side and Kings XI Punjab.

Spinner Axar Patel (Rs five crore), pacer Mohit Sharma (Rs five crore) and Mohammad Shami (Rs 4.8 crore) were the other names to fetch big bids.

The 20-year-old attracted the third-highest bid of 72m rupees, having entered with a base price of 20m. I was expecting to be picked up at my base price. Every franchise will once again put all their permutations and combinations in play to choose the right squad for one the most exciting and widely followed T20 league across the planet.

But the West Indian Hetmeyer will be the cynosure and like all franchises, KXIP will also go all-guns-blazing to get the wily U-19 WC victor from 2014. England's Sam Curran went for NZ$1.5m, also to Kings XI Punjab. Delhi Capitals paid Rs 2 crore and Rs 50 for Rutherford and Keemo Paul while Royals bought Thomas for Rs 1.1 crore.

Mumbai Indians also brought back Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga, who served the team for long, at his base price of Rs 2 crore.

Shami, who turned up for Delhi last season, was sold to KXIP while Mohit went back to Chennai Super Kings after a stint with KXIP.

Brendon McCullum, who launched the IPL with a 158 over a decade ago, went unsold.
