'Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker': Rey Has Become A Better Fighter

Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley Unsurprised by Last Jedi Backlash

Ridley also discussed Rey's dope backflip in The Rise of Skywalker trailer, which she said you couldn't do the full thing because "there was a risk of breaking ankles".

As the ending to not just the sequel trilogy, but a trilogy of trilogies, we all expect Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to be unique.

Many wondered whether this was true, and Daisy Ridley confirmed there's definitely more to the story.

One of the biggest "Last Jedi" surprises was the reveal that Rey's parents were nobodies.

Explaining this, she said that the upcoming Episode IX is "quite emotional" and has a "different drive" than the earlier films, but is still "a lot of fun".

Ridley's character Rey was one of three new characters introduced in The Force Awakens, along with John Boyega's Finn and Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron. This confirmation should be warmly received since some fans were left a little disappointed in that aspect following Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi which didn't answer address several of the mysteries from the previous film. Ridley said, "If people hold something incredibly dear and think they know how it should be and it's not like that, it's fair for people to think they were done wrong". We have exactly zero answers to those questions at this point. Even though she doesn't agree with it, the actress revealed that she wasn't surprised at all by the online controversy surrounding the latest installment in the Star Wars saga. Ridley continued, "It doesn't mean they were - ultimately, Rian's a filmmaker and one person can't dictate how a film is supposed to be - but freedom of expression, sure".

With Luke dead at the end of The Last Jedi, (and Kylo Ren and Leia technically not Skywalkers) there aren't any other characters the title could be referring to.

'The ending to Rise of Skywalker ... it's very satisfying.

"He was Josh [Gad's] guest at [the] Murder on the Orient Express [premiere] and we went for dinner afterwards, and Colin sat next to me and I was like, 'What's this gonna be like?' Because all I had heard-I didn't know what had happened, I just knew that he wasn't doing it anymore".
